Charles retired as the U.S. Marine Corps Senior Service Representative to the U. S. Army War College in June 2013. Enlisting in 1984, he served as an artilleryman in the 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, attaining the rank of Corporal prior to his commissioning as a Second Lieutenant. Designated an operational communications and information systems officer, Charles served in every element of the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF), with the privilege of leading Marines and serving with all the services at every rank and level, before retiring as a Colonel. Charles' tours of duty include service throughout the Western Hemisphere, the Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe. Charles has combat tours during Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as Commanding Officer for the Marine Corps Recruiting Station in Orlando, Fl., Inspector-Instructor, 6th Communication Battalion and Commanding Officer of the 4th Marine Corps District. He has also served on the Joint Staff, the Pentagon. Charles holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa. He is a graduate of the Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College and has served as a Marine Corps Corporate Fellow on Wall St. He holds a Master's Degree in Strategic Planning and National Security Studies from the U.S. Navy War College, Newport, R.I. Based in Arlington, Va., he travels the country coordinating with multiple military installations and veteran support organizations (VSO), helping those transitioning from the military to Lockheed Martin.
