The United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation in Annapolis, Maryland is seeking a full-time Assistant Director, Development Analytics. The Assistant Director, Development Analytics will have background in Strategic Advancement Resources (ST.A.R) which is the strategic infrastructure team that guides, advises, and supports the USNA Foundation.

This exempt position is part of a highly collaborative and energetic team, all of whom are driven to advance the USNA Foundation mission and develop ourselves personally and professionally. This position reports to the Director of Strategic Advancement Resources and works closely with the Foundation Executive leadership team and colleagues across the Enterprise including colleagues in Regional Development, Donor Relations, Principal Gifts, and Events, to advise program effectiveness, fundraising performance, areas of opportunity, and progress towards goals.

The Assistant Director, Development Analytics, will lay the data-driven groundwork to help execute a future campaign that will support the Naval Academy's Strategic Plan 2030. This position will also closely partner with colleagues from across the Enterprise to support all development efforts.

This position pays a competitive salary commensurate with experience and is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus of up to 6%, when applicable. You would also be eligible for a generous benefits plan which includes medical, dental, vision, an FSA, an HSA, a fully vested 403(b) retirement plans with employer matching, 22 days of accrued paid time off (PTO) per fiscal year, 14 paid holidays per calendar year, group life insurance, short-term & long-term disability, identity theft protection, and annual opportunities for professional development. This position is based in historic Annapolis at our current offices located overlooking the Severn River on the beautiful grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2023, the staff of the Alumni Association and Foundation will move into new modern offices in the Alumni Center, which are currently under construction on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes trends internal and external to USNAF to provide insight for fundraising initiatives. Monitors progress toward fundraising goals to anticipate future needs, designs and implements new tactics to guide fundraising priorities and needs
  • Lays the groundwork for the fundraising process through comprehensive strategic analysis of donor pools, philanthropic giving trends, and the exploration of key relationship networks
  • Introduce, implement, and maximize tools and methods to ensure effective prospect management, including data mining, predictive modeling, and data visualization
  • Work with the other Directors in ST.A.R to create an implementation plan for descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics
  • Ensure that prospect research provided to leadership and gift officers is accurate, efficient, and actionable
  • Develop and design data visualizations that inform trends, strategy, and progress toward goals.
  • Recalibrate portfolios as needed to maximize performance and elevate the highest priority prospects for management
  • Work with leadership and gift officers to ensure that fundraising initiatives have sufficient prospects to meet fundraising goals
  • Ensure adherence to professional standards and ethics of prospect research
  • Participates at an appropriate level in professional associations such as APRA, AHP, and CASE to increase knowledge and skills and stay abreast of industry trends

Qualifications

  • Exceptional written/verbal communication and project management skills
  • Dedication to growth and professional development with an openness to coaching and mentoring
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • 3 to 5 years data analytics experience, preferably in nonprofit, marketing, and higher education, or an independent school
  • Experience with Tableau, or PowerBI and Excel PowerPivot 
  • Proficiency in conceptualizing and developing proactive prospecting methodologies using such tools as constituent list segmentation, data mining, and electronic and peer screenings
  • Ability to manipulate, analyze and synthesize data using data warehousing and mining tools
  • Knowledge of SQL is preferred
  • Perform or assist other duties as assigned
  • Able to work full-time, onsite in Annapolis, MD
