Position Description:

DZYNE Technologies is building a highly skilled team that thrives in the creation of new air and ground vehicles. The candidate will work in a rapid development environment where the project will progress from design, fabrication, assembly, and test phases in a short period of time.

The successful candidate will be a highly organized self-starter who has direct, hands-on experience developing vehicle and product systems.  Excited to take unknown problems and break them down to incremental development steps.  The ideal candidate will be able to think out of the box to solve challenging problems, but remain grounded with solid fundamentals.  The candidate must have strong prototyping experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.  He/she must have a keen understanding of what it takes to build subsystems in this type of environment. 

Required Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work in small interdisciplinary teams to reach programmatic goals
  • Develop structural layouts, determine load paths, create initial sizing
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and assembly techniques with an emphasis in composite structures
  • Experience with finite element analysis methods and tools, Altair Hypermesh or Femap is preferred.
  • Ability to quickly make first approximations and trades, followed by detailed analyses using advanced tools
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the rest of the team
  • Create analysis reports, provide design recommendations based on analysis results
  • Ability to empathize with team members  in challenging situations
  • Demonstrated success in the development of vehicles in an “advanced programs” and/or rapid development environment
  • Knowledge of materials properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes (e.g. non-destructive testing, corrosion prevention)
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering technical information (e.g., drawings, handbooks, industry standards and specifications)
  • General knowledge of vehicle systems (powertrain, electronics, environmental conditioning, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience building rapid-response prototype vehicles; aircraft, automotive or unmanned vehicles
  • Experience in composite part design and manufacturing
  • Expert user of CAD tools like SolidWorks; able to create and modify models, complex assemblies, and drawings
  • Expert user of finite element analysis solvers like Nastran or Optistruct
  • Experience with analytical tools like MATLAB or Python
  • Knowledge of  test plan creation, execution and correlation back to engineering data

Typical Education/Experience:

  • Level 3/4 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: 5-10 years with Bachelors of Science (engineering degree preferred); 3-5 years with Masters;
