Job Description
New hires in office-based roles in the U.S. & Puerto Rico will be required, subject to applicable law, to demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or qualify for a medical or religious exemption to this vaccination requirement that can be accommodated without an undue burden to the operation. However, subject to applicable law, employees working in roles that the Company determines require routine partnership with external stakeholders, such as employees in health services, customer facing commercial, or research based roles, will be required to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment.
Our Quantitative Sciences team use big data to analyze the safety and efficacy claims of our potential medical breakthroughs. We review the quality and reliability of clinical studies using deep scientific knowledge, statistical analysis and high-quality data to support decision making in clinical trials.
The role will lead development of the Request Management & Workflow capability within Research and Development Sciences (RaDS) IT and execute strategy for supporting the digital transformation of our scientific tools. The role offers the chance to work in a broad area with the ability to impact how lab-based research is conducted and accelerate innovative drugs to market. You will possess a blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision with the ability to dive into the weeds, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You will be able to understand scientific problems and translate those needs for the technical team while prioritizing tasks to ensure the introduction and ongoing enhancement of solutions. Success will be the acceptance and adoption of these new solutions by the scientists targeted for each release and measurable impact.
You will be able to empathize with our scientists' needs and be a passionate advocate for their perspectives through all phases of product development.
The position will be based in North America, travel to other sites will be required at times potentially globally once able to do so safely (estimated no more than 15% of the time).
Primary Tasks:
Managing the product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
Specifying requirements for current and future products through close partnership with RaDS scientists and other stakeholders
Supporting adoption and change management plans that ensure successful releases
Analyzing potential connectivity needs for the resultant solution(s)
Minimizing or managing dependencies as appropriate with other capabilities in the product line
Education Minimum:
B.A./B.S. or Advanced degree equivalent in a relevant technical or scientific discipline (such as life sciences, informatics, genomics, statistics/biostatistics). Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
Prerequisites:
Demonstrable experience in or around the pharmaceutical industry sufficient to grasp the underlying workflows.
Have worked in a Product Management related role such as Product Manager, Product Owner, Product Analyst.
Worked in an Agile development team.
A dedication to appreciating complex problems and tackling a diversity of subject matter with a creative mind and imaginative strategies.
Demonstrated ability to develop strong, trust based, collaborative relationships to drive change within all levels of a large, diverse organization.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work based on user need, business value, and return on investment.
Ability to quickly grasp new technological and scientific concepts and convey their value to clients and collaborators.
Has redesigned and improved internal business processes.
Ability to consider and manage change. as a critical success factor for in-house enterprise systems.
Has made build-or-buy decisions.
Ability to function in a geographically distributed, culturally diverse environment with both internal and external employees.
Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and users.
Ability to work in a team of multidisciplinary scientists and IT personnel, and operate effectively in a matrix environment; team player yet able to work independently.
Preferred:
Demonstrable knowledge of problems facing scientists working a drug discovery lab.
Has applied change management concepts in a cross functional group.
Ability to work collaboratively with vendors to address business problems.
Familiarity with user centered design and UX principles.
Pragmatic Institute Certification.
Familiarity with Cloud based software and terms.
Experience with Appian and/or other low code/BPM software solutions
Comprehension of laboratory processes and methods.
Comprehension of the Product Life Cycle of software products
