The Project Manager position is a hybrid position working a few days in the McHenry, IL office each week and a couple of days remote.

Education and Critical Skills/Experience – Project Manager

·        Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering (i.e. mechanical / electrical / systems engineering, information technology) or natural science (i.e. chemistry, biology or similar)

·        Experience (minimum 5 years) in product development required

·        Well-founded knowledge in project management

·        Deep knowledge of cross-functional disciplinary landscape for medical device industry

·        Further education in project management or business administration desirable

·        Experience in a highly regulated industry (preferably medical devices)

·        Good understanding for clinical requirements of medical devices

·        Verbal and written skills in English

·        Knowledge of the design control processes, R&D experience, as well as industrialization and supply chain concepts

·        Able to motivate and lead people in the matrix (project team)

·        Goal oriented, transformational, and transactional leadership skills, influencing skills, problem solving skills

      Travel up to 10% of the time, including occasional international travel as required to meet business and customer expectations

 

Main Responsibilities – Project Manager

·        Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs

·        Contribute to innovation and process excellence by always having the internal or external customer in mind and understanding the industry – environment and challenges

·        Propose the collaboration setup – which could enable the successful execution of the projects with China, Switzerland and US organizations – using the strength and skillsets of each local team.

·        Coaching and training of the project team through execution of projects.

·        Introducing PPM processes and toolkits for the projects which enables team to execute the projects on time, securing both scope and quality.

·        Establishing of the project order and business case to officially start a project

·        Elaborating scenarios for product development according to the innovation process

·        Planning of available budget and full time equivalents (resources) according to the project roadmap

·        Execution of projects according to the project roadmap with its gates and launch date

·        Conduct of the (global) project team and coordination with the various disciplines from all the involved departments and teams (Operations, Marketing, Quality & Regulatory, …)

·        Development of the projects according to the Medela innovation process using the available methods and tools (FMEA, risk management and systems/requirements engineering)

·        Ensure the project progress as per plan: milestones, overall timeline, budget and cost

·        Organization of project and review meetings on a regular basis and reporting to the corresponding decision-making body

·        Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements for medical devices during project process

·        Ensure complete project and product documentation (technical file) until launch

·        Overall responsibility from project start until launch and making sure to launch the product on schedule underlined by high quality thinking for defined projects

·        Close collaboration within cross functional organization setup: product marketing, suppliers, external engineering companies, partners in plastic technologies, industrial designers, patent attorney, doctors, hospital staff.

·        Link between technology and application of the products, assistance with problems in the field
